PL Hobbs
Yorkshire born artist, Phil Hobbs has lived and worked in the English Lake District for over 50 years. Working predominately in pure watercolour he has participated in many national exhibitions and had a number of solo shows in the UK, USA and Europe. He has contributed articles to many of the national and international art magazines and tutored workshops in this country and abroad. His time more recently is divided between painting in the UK and Italy. He is a past President and an Honorary Life Member of the Lake Artists Society.

Celebrating over 50 years of living and working in the English Lake District, artist Phil Hobbs invites us to accompany him on a journey through this unique part of the world, retracing the steps that over that same period have provided the inspiration and the material for some of his best known works.
Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking method that differs from etching in that the image is created by the artist incising the lines directly into the plate using an etching needle or similar tool. A ‘burr’ is thrown up when the line is incised which traps the ink and gives a drypoint its distinctive appearance.
